Tasting Notes
NOSE - Immediately greeted by welcomed Hungarian Oak characters; Fresh fruits, citrus spices, golden syrup, apricots and coconuts. A note of ginger and crushed almonds sprinkled over a sugary cereal or porridge, followed by soft vanilla that comes through a few times as though it’s mixed with icing sugar and yogurt. Hungarian Oak is known for fewer tannins and more “aromatics” than American Oak, and this cask is no exception.
PALATE - Spicy, soft, fresh-cut oak coats your mouth with a thick sweet honey and ginger texture. A unique hot-mouth feel bounces around with more honey and cereal notes. Once settled, more Hungarian Oak spices with complementing icing sugar and sweetness.
FINISH - If you haven’t experienced single malt whisky produced in Hungarian Oak, this is one you’ll likely never forget. It has such a distinctive nose, palate, and finish, that it stands alone in any lineup. The hot spices, with its vanilla and citrus sweetness, is very well balanced and definitely a special mouth-coating experience. This High Coast Hungarian Oak cask was chosen to represent the 1st release in our Cigar Series for its quality, character and very long finish. It’s in perfect pairing harmony with the tobacco and spiciness of a cigar. At 62.1% we suggest sipping it slowly with a cigar before the abv kicks in, as it is not noticeable on the palate or finish.
